The Lafarge Dream League

Where soccer champions are made

Recently we saw great battles at the Shudintle sports grounds, where adoring fans were seen cheering for more spectacular goals, tshamayas and shibobos, as their teams battled it out. The teachers and parents of all of the 14 teams participated in the finals, which included 4 primary girl teams, 4 primary boy teams, 3 secondary girl teams and 3 secondary boy teams. There was great excitement when the kings and queens of the Lafarge Dream League showed up on the field!

lafarge soccer kings.jpgThe toughest game was between Shudintle Intermediate School and Tau Rapulana High School and it got parents and teachers biting their fingernails. When the referee blew the final whistle the score was a 1: 1 draw, so the game went for extra time. That still did not make a difference and so the whistle was blown for a penalty shootout, which was won by Shudintle Intermediate School 7 to 6.

The moment the games ended the members of the Bodibe Royal Family stepped in, to honour the winners . Winners included Naletsana Primary School girls who won by 2 goals to 1 against Matlaba Primary girls; Naletsana Primary Schools boys won by 2 goals to 0 lafarge soccer campions 2.jpgafter punishing Molekane Primary; and Tau Rapulana High School girls showed Shudintle Middle School girls who was queen after beating them 5: 2.

This year new warriors will walk the field and battle it out on the dusty field and settle old scores like kings and queens of June 1976.
